Holistic Health Care for Cancer Survivorship

Winter Session:

  • Retreat: Saturday, Feb. 18 from 1:00- 5:00 p.m.+
  • 8 follow up sessions on Tuesdays, Feb. 21 – Apr. 10 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Spring Session:

  • Retreat: Saturday, Mar. 31 from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.+
  • 8 follow up sessions on Thursdays, Apr. 5 – May 24 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Cost: $370 (includes two complementary energy healing sessions, two mind/body practice group sessions, the Circle of Life Book and The Whole-Body Workbook for Cancer and a Strands of Hope necklace kit.)  Financial aid for this wellness  program may be available to qualified survivors through the Cancer Survivor Wellness Fund managed by the Fairview Foundation. Using the “Whole-Body Workbook for Cancer” and the Circle of Life group coaching process, our team of Holistic Health professionals are prepared to guide you through the essential components of the cancer survivorship journey. Your “new normal” requires self-responsibility for your health care plan and special attention to your self care. Our guest experts will provide information on these areas of your life:

The Circle of Life group coaching process will support your efforts to integrate any of these positive lifestyle changes that you are ready and willing to pursue. You will learn the process for change and equip yourself with the tools to expand your healthy behaviors at a pace that is enjoyable and sustainable.

Cami Smalley, MA, Program Director

Cami has over 25 years in the fitness and wellness field including independent consulting, teaching, and coaching and employment with community centers, hospitals, and fitness clubs. Her first Master’s Degree is in Physical Education from the University of Northern Iowa with an emphasis in Cardiac Rehab.

She completed another Master’s degree from St. Catherine University in December, 2010 in Holistic Health Studies with an emphasis in Energy Healing. Cami is a certified Circle of Life Health and Wellness Coach and a YogaFit certified yoga instructor. She joined Well Within in December, 2008.

Jerri Johnson, Certified Homeopath

Jerri Johnson is a homeopath and a health freedom activist. A founding member of the Minnesota Natural Health Coalition and the Minnesota Natural Health Legal Reform Project, she was a co-lobbyist for the passage of the Complementary and Alternative Health Care Freedom of Access Act in the Minnesota legislature. Jerri Johnson is a founding member and chair of the board of the National Health Freedom Coalition. Johnson graduated from St. Olaf College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. She currently has a practice in homeopathy at Crescenterra Health Center (http://crescenterra.com/) in St. Paul, Minnesota. She is a founding member and board member of the Minnesota Homeopathic Association.

Dr. Paul Berry, PhD, Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Paul Berry is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in private practice who provides therapy for Well Within as a volunteer. Dr. Berry has a Master’s and Doctorate Degree in clinical psychology from the University of Maine and is a licensed psychologist in Minnesota. He has been in clinical practice for 38 years, and has served as chief psychologist for the MN Disability Service of Social Security for 38 years. His  private practice has involved psychotherapy and consultative work in sleep, pain, weight loss, and cardiac disorders programs. He has an expanding interest in health psychology, mind/body/spirit integrative healing, and psycho-neuro-immunology. He currently is a consultant for the SOAR Disability Homeless Project in Minnesota.

Cathy Skinner, ACSM Cancer Exercise Trainer, Certified Physical Activity for Lymphedema Trainer

Cathy Skinner has been providing personal training for cancer survivors since 2008. She was the first ACSM Cancer Exercise Trainer in Minnesota and is a Certified Physical Activity for Lymphedema (PALs for Life) Trainer. Cathy holds an MA in Organizational Development from the University of St. Thomas, MN, and a BA in Psychology from the University of California at Davis. Cathy was a lead trainer in Survivors’ Training™ Celebrate Strength, a fitness DVD made for breast cancer survivors. With a passion for functional movement and corrective exercises, Cathy is a Peak Pilates Instructor (Level II), a HKC Kettle Bell Instructor, and certified in Functional Movement System.

Cathy has launched cancer survivor exercise programs in three fitness centers. She strives to fill the gap between the healthcare, health insurance, and fitness industries by networking and collaborating with organizations to promote wellness for cancer survivors. An enthusiastic presenter, Cathy leads workshops, speaks at conferences, and meets with support groups.  She also conducts research projects, and collaborates with healthcare providers and payers. When asked why she is motivated to work with cancer survivors, Cathy says: “The cancer diagnosis and treatment process can be very dis-empowering. Barbara Brodsho, MA, Associate Director

Barb is thrilled to be able to share her gifts and passion related to spirituality and healing with Well Within participants; and her 23 years of business analyst and management experience in her role as Associate Director at Well Within. With her undergraduate degree in Business Administration, she has served a variety of organizations ranging in size from a large Fortune 500 company to small non-profit organizations.

She has a master’s degree in Theology and certification in Spiritual Direction from St. Catherine University in St. Paul, MN.  She has a private practice, Sacred Connections, in Lakeville, MN in which she provides spiritual direction and healing touch which integrates prayer, hand-on-healing, and the use of essential oils. She also facilitates classes, workshops and retreats related to spirituality and holistic health for organizations.
